November 04, 11, 18, 25
19.30 – 21.30
In the Movement Research Sessions we create a space to connect to our bodies and the world around us using different movement techniques and explorations. We will travel through our bodies to gain more understanding of it’s possibilities and explore movement in a playful way. Using practical tools to guide you towards more body awareness and connection. Each workshop will have a different theme and focus.
No previous experience required.
November 04: Somatic Floorwork
Using Somatic Movement to explore our bodies in space and in relation to the floor. As humans walking on two feet, a lot of us have lost our relationship to the earth because our bodies are in so little contact with it. In this session we will bring our bodies back to the floor, back to the earth to explore how we can move with ease using the support of the floor. Bringing a deep groundedness to our bodies and our movements. Somatics is a field within bodywork and movement studies which emphasizes internal physical perception and experience. Focusing on your inner experience as you move and expand your internal awareness of your body. We will explore how our bodies are affected by gravity and the natural laws of physics to bring more softness into our movements.
November 11: Breathwork & Singing Bowls
Breathing practices to improve physical and emotional wellbeing have been around for centuries. In this session we will explore the Conscious Connected Breathing technique which is a powerful and safe way to infuse the body with oxygen and energy. Recharging our own (often depleted) systems to work their self-healing capacity and release stored emotions from your system.
With Breathwork we can enjoy optimum mental health, emotional clarity and experience an ever-deepening relationship with ourselves. We will end this session with the deeply relaxing sound of traditional Tibetan singingbowls. These singingbowls have been used for ages to heal the body and mind on deeper levels. Using sound and frequency to bring movement to every cell of our bodies to stimulate a free energy flow and release blockages. Bringing deep relaxation on a physical, mental and emotional level. Just lay down, relax and enjoy the beautiful healing sounds of these ancient singing bowls!
November 18: Authentic Movement
In this Authentic Movement Session we will slow down to step into presence and explore the unconscious mind through movement. We will emphasize the importance of inner listening and using dance and movement to integrate body, mind and spirit. Authentic Movement is an awareness practice that invites you to discover who you are in the here and now through the spontaneous movements of our bodies. You will be encouraged to focus your attention on the present moment and act out your inner emotions and feelings in improvised dance movements while keeping the eyes closed in order to reduce distractions. The sensing world will be awakened and the development of embodied presence is often a natural outgrowth of the Authentic Movement practice. It will support you in connecting to a deeper life force that can bring an enhanced sense of meaning to daily experience.
November 25: Contact Improvisation
Contact Improvisation is a dance form based on the physical principles of touch, momentum, gravity, shared weight and most importantly, following a shared point of contact. A dance in which we can improvise and let every movement unfold in the present moment. Moving our bodies in relation to the floor and in relation to other physical bodies. Exploring the skills of falling, rolling, counterbalance, lifting, being lifted, and how to stay present with our partners and our surroundings. A dance that fine tunes your senses and wakes up your ability to what is happening in the present moment. Contact Improvisation holds a lot of space for exploration, for getting to know your body and for being playful in our dance and creating infinite movement possibilities.
